No doubt our June meeting will be remembered for many reasons -my own loss and the overwhelming love and support I received , Joy’s delightful volunteering journey and the fascinating crime stories shared by the highly successful author, Vikki Petraitis.
John you certainly had the phones running hot after announcing our next club trip to Queenscliff in late February 2027! No names … but I know one couple who raced out the door after the meeting and couldn’t get home quickly enough to book the deluxe Villa unit they wanted . When I rang the following day, the office staff told me they had been so busy they hadn’t even had time to read my email !
Steve also gave a very personal Welfare report, reminding us that if you think you may be having a heart attack, call an ambulance — don’t drive yourself. And, if I may add, the same applies if you suspect you’re having a stroke. It was a very important message for us all.
Thank you to our Mahjong volunteers who demonstrated their skills at the recent Lifetime of Skills Expo in Brighton, helping to promote Probus within our community.
Our new group note “Knit 1, Chat 2,” got off to a wonderful start with twelve enthusiastic women whose hands and lips were both moving at impressive speed ! It was fun, welcoming and wonderfully nurturing .
What a magnificent day we enjoyed visiting the Shrine. The weather was so good that Wendy ,Bill and I walked into the city afterwards. And those Peter Roland sandwiches ? They certainly lived up to their reputation.
For those members who have booked to see The Secret Garden , you might enjoy watching the Netflix film starring Maggie Smith before we attend the performance.
A very warm welcome to our newly inducted members Janice Boyle and Liz Paige, and also to our visitor, Liz Adam, who has already embraced the many activities our club has to offer.
As winter settles in keep warm, keep well and I look forward to seeing you at our next meeting on Wednesday 15 July – unless, of course, you’ve escaped to warmer weather up north !
