NEW GROUP FOR 2026 ~ KNIT ONE … CHAT 2
In typical Beaumaris Bay fashion, the new knitters’ group got off to an almighty bang in June – with eleven members at its inaugural meeting. And we know of four more who will probably be present at the next meeting. This is spectacular as the whole purpose is to meet and knit warm winter items for those in need while enjoying a bit of light banter and chit chat … Items being knitted at the moment include a selection of squares (for blankets) and beanies, with maybe a pair or two of woollen gloves. Please come along – the fourth Monday of each month… 10.00-12.00 at the golf club.

The click clacking of knitting needles has pervaded our suburbs and members are being treated for RSI – that’s how well the knitting for charity group has taken off!!! Wool sales are up – just ask Penny McColl who has single handedly bought out Spotlight shops between here and Coffs Harbour! She has completed enough squares to make her own king-size blanket, as a well as a few warm and cuddly scarves. Steve is a lucky man as she now has patterns to keep every part of his body well covered in knitted garments!
The knitting group girls have done a super job so far, to the point where no more squares are needed. Even if you can’t make it on Mondays from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. any donations of hand knitted scarves or beanies are gratefully accepted!
