DAY TRIPS

We are always looking for new places to visit. Details of activities will be posted on the home page of this website as they are organised. Outings are usually by chartered bus and occasionally in conjunction with neighbouring Probus Clubs. Previous trips include the Jazz Museum, National Rhododendron Gardens, Parliament House, Hanging Rock, Phillip Island and Arthur’s Seat Eagle.

PANORAMA GARDENS

Finally, after 4 cancellations we set off on 12th May for Panorama Gardens. The threat of rain did not deter us. The trip to Boneo on the Mornington Peninsular was picturesque and a lot of excited chatter on the bus could be heard.
Anne Maree and Kasey were our guides for the tour. After a lovely selection of slices and fruit with our Morning Tea, we set off on our walk around the farm and gardens. Such a menagerie of wildlife pigs, cows, sheep, alpacas, peacocks, chooks and many more. The gardens were a work of art and a credit to Nick who had created it from nothing in the 20 years they had been there.
After a very enjoyable morning followed by lunch at the Rosebud RSL it was agreed that day trips are back and we look forward to the next outing.

DINING OUT

We visit local restaurants for dinner during the warmer months. During the colder months we patronise local eateries for lunch.

LUNCH AT ARCOBAR  27 MAY 2021

Two tables thoroughly enjoyed good food, a wine and plenty of friendly chatter twelve hours before the Lock Down at Arco Bar. At one stage during lunch I heard someone say, “Look, everyone is either talking, laughing or eating!”
Thanks Carole for another successful get together.

THEATRE

Theatre lovers in the Club attend musicals and live shows in Melbourne’s famous theatres.

After two deferments, 12 of our members finally got to see the musical Moulin Rouge. It was a very energetic, colourful and at times dramatic performance. For those who remembered the film it was very similar but the songs that wove through it were an extremely clever mix of many current ones, especially the love songs. We came away in awe of the talented performers. Their ability to act, sing and dance and their energy levels are something to be truly envious of.
The sets were simple but strikingly lit and the blue elephant an inspiring sight. As would be expected the costumes ranged from elegant to raunchy and we also had the can-can girls in their colourful skirts.
All-in-all a performance worth waiting for.
