The month of July has been particularly busy with a number of events for the club. Ken and Liz Launder were presented with life membership which I think we would all agree was well deserved.
On the 22 of July, Janette James, Mike Simmons and I attended the cluster meeting of all Bayside Probus clubs with the new Mentone and Hampton clubs joining for the first time. These meetings prove invaluable to clubs in that it gives an insight into problems that come and how each club deals with them. One of the results of discussion was that a data base will be available to all club committees for guest speakers, activities, and excursions that each has found to be successful. Also where a club has vacancies for trips etc, these will be open to all clubs to participate. The idea is to help offset cost to all.
At our last meeting, it was great to have Geoff Bransbury back again giving us a wonderful insight into his travels through South America.
Those who attended the Beleura trip apparently had a great time ,and were really intrigued by the lives of the Tallis family.
With the end of winter fast approaching, I’m sure we are all looking forward to the warmer weather and a greater attendance at our meetings. Just a reminder to all to let Janette know in advance if you are staying for lunch after our August meeting (particularly if you have special dietary needs).
