Cranbourne Gardens 25 February 2021

Gardens Outing

On Thursday 25th February, 30 eager day trippers visited the Royal Botanic Gardens at Cranbourne. Some members took the opportunity to roam the vast acreage by foot, others opted for a guided tour in the garden bus.
Along the way we saw the Red Sand Garden, dry river beds, rockpool waterways, backyard gardens and many other diverse layouts. The Australian garden is surrounded by remnant bushland and wetlands with over 350 species of native plants, 20 native mammals and 11 amphibians.
Unfortunately, we did not see any native animals or amphibians!
The photos of the Yellow Kangaroo Paw,  Anigozanthos  (yellow gem)  featured as a spectacular display on the landscape interspersed with  Convolvulus  (Silver Bush) . A border of  Chrysocephalum  (yellow Buttons) completes the  setting.
After the gardens we had a short drive to Trios bistro at Cranbourne Racecourse for a lovely lunch.
