President’s Message July 2025

Winter has suddenly come with a burst and this was reflected in attendance at our June meeting by the number of apologies. Beryl and I had thought we would get away to the warmth of Queensland as well but unfortunately I think we took the cold weather with us. At our next meeting we will formally vote for life membership for Liz and Ken Launder who have been members since 2004. They have given so much to the club in that time and continue to do so and I believe are very worthy recipients. A group travelled to Bendigo for the Frida Kahlo exhibition and am sure would have had a wonderful time. Unfortunately with being away Beryl and I missed the mid year lunch. I have been informed that the day was a great success as well as delicious food. These lunches take a great deal of work and we thank Faye and Joy for the wonderful job they do. Our guest speaker for June, Lisa Bryant gave us such an insight into the way the Olympic and Commonwealth games are organised and the highs and lows of competitive sport, together with the sacrifices needed to reach such a high level. I will try desperately to bring some warmth and sunshine back from Queensland for our next meeting but based on today’s temperatures it’s looking highly unlikely.
