SPECIAL EVENT LUNCHES
The mid year and Christmas lunches are the highlight events of the year. These events are slightly more formal than our monthly dine-outs and are very popular with our members. Venues include Woodlands Golf Club, Marios in Brighton and the Beaumaris Yacht Squadron.
MID YEAR LUNCH 24 JUNE 2021
Our mid year lunch event was very successful with over 50 members attending and ably emceed by Jan Storey. The Beaumaris Yacht Squadron Restaurant is a special venue particularly on such a sunny day with sparkling blue waters all round.
The speaker, Geoff Bransbury, gave a very relaxed and amusing presentation of his travels around Australia on his trusty motor bike he names Azulo. Many members were able to relive their own holidays as Geoff highlighted his favourite destinations.
Our President Steve took the opportunity at this event to award a 20 year membership badge to Jocelyn Besly. Congratulations Jocelyn!
Thank you to Helga for bringing us together; a real reward after our latest lockdown.

Our 2022 extended tour REPORT – PHILLIP ISLAND
I feel sure from all the comments that I received that everybody enjoyed the 3 days stay at Amaroo Park, Cowes, Phillip Island. We had a group of 26 eager participants from our club come together from 5-8 April 2022.
Our very helpful hosts, the Park accommodation, and the nice weather, was just what the Club Members needed for this first extended outing in a long time.
Our food and drink get togethers in the “Homestead” lounge dining area were very enjoyable with plenty of catch-up chatting and laughs from the large group attending.
Our visit to Le Porchetta Restaurant on the first night went very well, but many of us ate too much Pizza.
During the day, groups of members travelled to many parts of the Island to enjoy walks, seeing the Penguins, the Nobbies, Cape Woolamai, Swan Lake, Rhyll, Churchill Is, plus plenty of retail therapy in Thompson St, Cowes.
Let’s hope that we can all get together again on a similar trip in the not-too-distant future.
Convenor’s Report: Geoff Bakes 10 April 2022
PS from Club Newsletter Editor: Thanks, Geoff, for organising a very enjoyable sojourn. Also, a big thank you to Steve McColl (pictured) who produced a challenging 40-question quiz, which provided lots of laughs and debate about the answer to one of the questions; the animated discussion continued the next morning in the communal kitchen where we gathered to decide on the day’s activities.
