Attendance at our last meeting reflected that the much-needed sunshine has arrived. The induction of our three new members has seen membership reach one hundred which is really great for our club. Since I spoke at our last meeting, the Cheltenham Golf Club has made application to the council for the cancellation of their existing lease and for a new 21 year one be put in place. I was invited to speak on behalf of Beaumaris Bay Probus Club at the council meeting in support of the golf club which was both interesting and a rewarding experience. I felt it very important for our future that we take this action. Whilst it was passed by six to one by the council, this is subject to community consultation and will be revisited in November. A special thank you to Mike Simmons and Joan Fry for their work in updating our financial situation. Please give this some thought as to how much we should increase our fees for next year.
The trip away next year is in full swing already with 43 members committed to participating. What would we do without the great work of John & Michele Backholer? We had an interesting speaker this month in Margie Borthwick from Care Connect. I urge all members to take on board her advice and register for Aged Care, if you have not already done so.
The next five weeks are a busy time for club activities. Just make sure you have advised the relevant activities coordinator if you wish to participate as some are at capacity already with waiting lists. Our post-meeting lunches are proving to be very popular so, please try to let Janette know a week before if you intend to stay for that. Don’t forget it’s the Grand Final dress-up meeting next month so please turn up in your football colours.
