BOWLS fun at Hampton

True to all things Australian, we quickly divided into two groups – the men disappeared to start playing before the women had even worked out what colour bowl they were going to choose!
They do say you never truly know someone until you play bowls – and then, oh boy – the truth is revealed. We were warned by our very kind and patient tutor that it can bring out the true competitive spirit in people. After giving us all some basic instructions we were left to our own devices. Some of our members played in that true spirit of the game, very polite and congratulating each other on good shots. And then there were others that quickly got the idea of bashing each other’s bowls out of the way and ending up closest to the jack was immensely satisfying.(Please note not one name has been mentioned – I’m leaving you to do the guessing.)
Our thanks must go to Julie who liaised with the Hampton Bowls Club and with her band of merry helpers set up the club rooms ready for our meal together. We had a number of talented ladies who concocted delicious salads to compliment the chickens from Seaview chicken shop. Such a terrific team spirit which even extended to the washing and drying up.
Such a great fun night and I think everyone is looking forward to doing it all again!
